Hi all,
I am looking to buy a new laptop for ~$600 or less. It is an upgrade from a 1000HE EEEpc and my hope is to get more mainstream performance out of it. I need it for general computing/internet/video watching but will not be doing any gaming on it. I prefer 11-14″ form factor for portability and would love to get ~5 hr+ battery life.

Is an HP Probook 4430s better than a Toshiba P745D-S4240 for general computing, internet use, and watching HD video?

More generally, should I try to go after an i3-2310m with HD3000 graphics or an A6-3400 within this budget? Which is better when games are not being considered?

It’s a little hard to say. Both are good computers, with AMD’s Llano showing great promise as a contender to Intel’s Core i series. The integrated graphics on the A6-3400 should be a tad better than the HD3000, but probably not by much… The A6 MIGHT have better battery life than the i3 though, so that’s something to keep in mind if battery life is one of your bigger concerns.

In terms of processing performance, the Core i3 is better than the A6.

However, for games, the A6 will be better overall because of the better graphics core. But in games that are more CPU bound than GPU bound, the Core i3 will perform better.

So to keep the interest high, AMD is now about to present three new APU going to revise and expand the capabilities of the previous generation. The three new models of AMD Fusion APU E-300 , E-450 and C-60 , it always belong to the family Brazos, which is the entry-level and are based again on the Bobcat core , but compared to previous incarnations of Zacate and Ontario, however, show some interesting news. We start from the most powerful model, the E-450 dual core . The processor now has a working frequency slightly higher than that of E-350 with a clock rate of 1.65 GHz against 1.6 GHz, supports DDR3 1333 MHz, and not just those at 1066 MHz

In addition, the new chip features the new AMD Radeon HD 6320 graphics processor . The latter is the same as above 6310, then with 80 stream processors working at 500 MHz but, unlike in the past, now can also enjoy the benefits of technology AMD Core Turbo . The latter is currently capable of elevating the frequency of one of the two core APU at a time, depending on the workload, while lowering the core clock, however, also idle, so as to optimize fuel consumption. Also Turbo Core can also intervene on the frequency of the GPU, in this case bringing it up to 600 MHz

Similarly, the C-60 APU is always a 1 GHz dual core, but now, thanks to Turbo Core dynamically can climb up to 1.33 GHz and features a new graphics processor, called the AMD Radeon HD 6290 which, compared to the previous 6250, has a clock rate of 400 MHz versus 276 MHz previous

Finally there is the E-300 APU , which is also dual core, but with an operating frequency that sets it slightly below the previous E-350, equal to 1.30 GHz Unchanged but the graphics processor, which is always the AMD Radeon HD 6310 model year. In this way, now AMD offers a wider choice of solutions , not just to consumers but also producers, which will offer even more different configurations and more easily able to meet the needs of each user, with a greater modulation of the price / performance.

AMD has yet to officially present these processors, so the prices are not known, but in September the first netbooks are already expected based on the new APU.

Aesthetically speaking / realization we are always on the high levels of Hewlett Packard, and then with a good selection of materials, assembly defect-free and a clean design and simple , but still present and treated. The color is charcoal gray, with the edges, the piano keyboard and the display frame in black, to be a pleasant chromatic contrast, very elegant and sober.

HP 2000Z Specs

As for the hardware equipment, such as HP tradition there will be many options to choose from for each sector, in order to propose the configuration with the best balance between performance and cost for each user. The operating system is just one, Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit , while the processors may be one of the single-core AMD AND APU-240 with a clock rate of 1.5 GHz and dual-core AMD C-50 and AMD 1 GHz E-350 at 1.6 GHz .

The APU and E-240 E-350 may rely on integrated graphics processor AMD Radeon HD 6310M, has 80 Shader units clocked at 500 MHz with support for DirectX 11, Shader Model 5.0 and with the technology for decoding UVD 3 hardware streams high definition video up to 1080p. The APU AMD C-50 but has the less powerful AMD Radeon HD 6250, which has substantially the same characteristics, but a much lower operating frequency of 280 MHz

HP 2000Z Price

The HP 2000Z is already on sale on the official HP site , with a price for the base configuration with APU AMD C-50, 2 GB of RAM and 320 GB HDD, to 349.99 dollars. A cost so very interesting, which places it directly on the same level of netbooks, with respect to which, however, offers much more.

At these times it becomes the official update of the operating system of their own with this tablet user interface that brings with it many improvements and innovations.

The ‘ update , which will be available over the air (OTA), has a weight of about 188MB and will be distributed initially in the U.S. before expanding to other markets.

‘S UX TouchWiz user interface , specially designed for use on tablet of generous size, update the home screen of Android, making it more versatile and easy to use. They added several new panels and task launcher to launch the most important applications.
Fluid and intuitive TouchWiz UX supports multitasking and introduces a number of really interesting features. Just think of the live panel , sort of an animated panel that shows a lot of information on weather and on social networks but also on the email received.
Another novelty is Tray Mini Mode , through which quick access, via pop-up interface, the applications that are used often. Clipboard , however, lets you use advanced mode to copy and paste. In addition to this, you can save a lot of information as Web pages, images and so on, and send them by email or share on the major social networks.

TouchWiz UX also introduces a control panel for managing the main settings of the tablet (brightness, volume, connectivity, …). Also added a more sophisticated software for editing images and photographs, through which can be improved many aspects such as color tone and brightness and you can make changes to your files.

Additional news concerning the TouchWiz to support business applications and services , the text input system known by the name of Kies and Samsung Swype 2.0 that lets you share files with personal computers using WiFi or Bluetooth.
